POSITIVE HABITS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

“Successful people are simply those with successful habits” were the words of Brian Tracy. Similarly, positive people are simply those with positive habits. It is as simple as that.
Let us start with a simple definition. What is positivity? ‘Positivity is the frequent experience of pleasant emotions. Some of the most common are: joy, hope, gratitude, interest, serenity, pride, amusement, love, inspiration, and awe’. This makes us understand that positivity isn’t a separate emotion altogether. It is simply the experience of emotions that most healthy individuals can feel.
Positive habits are, in simple words, practicing pleasant emotions.
Let me share a little story of mine. A couple of years ago, I constantly felt like I was not good enough. I felt like I should either be pushing myself harder or I should have been born with the innate capability to be good at everything I do. Seeing others grow faster than I triggered me, and I could never be happy for someone else. That is when a really good friend of mine told me to start a little journal sort of thing where I must write
3 things I am grateful for
3 things that made me happy
1 good deed I carried out
1 person or situation I gained inspiration from
3 things I accomplished today
3 things I must accomplish tomorrow
Every night just before I hit the bed and read whatever I have written the previous day the first thing the next morning. This one activity that barely took up five minutes of my time changed the way I looked at everything. I realized that the reason I wasn’t able to grow at par with my peers was that I wasn’t following my passion. I was doing everything just for the sake of it. I began doing what I wanted to do. I became more and more productive by the hour.
Reflecting is another such habit that has done me a lot of good. Reflecting on your day helps you recognize what you might have done wrong, why that was wrong and what you can do to correct it and/or not repeat it.
Trust me when I say that I know these habits are kind of boring and you might rather enjoy using this time to watch Netflix. Now that you can trust me with that, you must also trust me when I say that this 15 minutes that you spend practicing positive thinking and acting will soon turn into habits that you will not only begin to enjoy but be the reason you will thank yourself for the rest of your life.
I would like to conclude with a quote. “A great attitude becomes a great day which becomes a great year”. Always remember that :)
